southmorehouse presents

is a renegade local arts promotion organization dedicated to the facilitation, motivation and inspiration of expression in all genres. They began in 2000 as a social experiment on Southmore Street and were lovingly called "that house on Southmore." In 2001, they acquired a full city block at the corner of Wheeler and La Branch consisting of a defunct auto body garage and two residential buildings. To reemphasize that they were a state of mind rather than a place, the founders decided to begin calling the organization "southmorehouse." Their final physical location ended on Leeland in 2007. Five years later (2012) they reopened as renegades, utilizing the city as their rightful venue. Since then, they have managed to organize noteworthy monthly events with a variety of musicians, performers, artists and environments in a diverse spectrum of establishments ranging from laundromats to bars. They are not done yet.
